Harwood Ski Club
Yes, the rumours are true - you can ski and board on snow in England!
Harwood Ski Club is located in Upper Teesdale in Country Durham and is run by a group of enthusiastic volunteers. The club is open from the beginning of November to the end of March each year, with the tow running whenever there is enough snow. The club is open to everyone, skiers and boarders, families, oung and old, all abilities, with beginners very welcome.
Come and enjoy great skiing and boarding, fantastic views and a friendly atmosphere.
Join as a member or just turn up and pay on the day!
(our membership form is now available to download from the documents page).
Visitor comment: Many thanks to all the volunteers for a very enjoyable day on Saturday. I will hope to get to the slopes again.
Harwood Ski Federation Ltd is an amalgamation of Long Gill, Glaxo and Swaledale Outdoor Centre ski clubs. We have two slopes of approximately 500 meters each that are serviced by a rope tow (tow hooks are available to hire). There is a club hut where you can take a well earned break and toilet facilities.
We do not have any equipment for hire so you need to bring your own boots/skis/boards/poles (see links page for local ski hire).
It is advisable to bring some food and drink with you as there are no catering facilities on site.
We need your help
We urgently need volunteers to help on the slope during the ski season. Please send a message via our 'Contact Us' page or see a committee member on the slope. Thank you.
